Our Working Families

Providing Meaningful Opportunity

We believe that the best collective future for Santa Barbara County is inextricably linked to the existence and growth of equitable opportunities for our working families. This means not having to struggle to acquire those things – like food, housing, childcare, transportation, education, culture and community service – that allow them to both fulfill their individual potential and contribute to the vibrancy of their communities.

To build a more resilient community, the Santa Barbara Foundation is developing strategies to support working families, who are quickly falling behind in terms of security and opportunity. We are focusing organizational resources on three interrelated areas that directly affect the working family -increasing affordable and accessible child care opportunities, building job skills through effective workforce development and creating more workforce housing for a growing region. Let’s stand with our working families.
