Designated Fund

If you have strong ties to one or more specific nonprofit groups, you can create a designated fund at the Santa Barbara Foundation to help support these organizations over a set number of years or in perpetuity. 

How It Works

Investing $10,000 or more will allow you to open a fund designated to support your favorite charity. 

Grants can be distributed from your designated fund to your favorite charity over a set number of years or in perpetuity.

How You Benefit

  •  You receive immediate tax advantages.
  • Your fund is managed by the Foundation's knowledgable, experienced staff.
  • You have the option to endow your fund, allowing your gift to live on in perpetuity.
  • You can rest assured that grants from your fund will always be used to fulfill your original intent.


Fund Spotlight

The John and Peggy Maximus Fund

Known for her extraordinary energy, intellect, and compassion, Peggy Maximus touched the lives of every person with whom she came into contact. Born in Poltava, Ukraine, Peggy immigrated to the United States with her family. She graduated from the University of Southern California and quickly established herself as one of the leading interior designers in Los Angeles. Near the end of World War II, she met her future husband, commercial artist John Maximus. The two were married in 1948 and relocated to New York City where they worked together in John’s design practice in Rockefeller Center. Peggy and John eventually retired to Santa Barbara in the late 1970s.
