Robert Skinner

Robert L. Skinner is the chief innovation officer and general counsel for Montecito Bank & Trust, the oldest locally owned and operated community bank in Santa Barbara County, with assets in excess of $1 billion. Robert is also a member of the bank’s Board of Directors and serves as the chair of its Trust Committee.

In addition to his responsibilities at the bank, Robert also serves as executive vice president and general counsel for The Towbes Group, Inc., a Santa Barbara based property management and development company. Robert is also a managing member of Towbes Capital Partners, LLC, a real estate investment company, and a founding member and chief executive officer of Agility Capital, LLC, a venture debt fund. He is the managing member and co-founder of Twenty One East Victoria Investments and Cathedral Pointe Ventures, investment firms focused on high quality investment opportunities created by the Central Coast’s growing technology industry.

Robert is on the Board of Directors of InTouch Health, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of Telemedicine and Remote Presence in the clinical environment allowing physicians to deliver quality health care anytime, anywhere, and Barrister Executive Suites, Inc., a provider of fully serviced offices in Southern California for over 40 years.

Previously, Robert spent almost seven years with the international law firm of White & Case in its Los Angeles and New York offices. During his tenure, he was involved in a wide variety of matters ranging from corporate reorganization and insolvency matters to high profile litigation. Robert’s expertise covers complex business litigation, construction, and real estate law.

Robert is a graduate of the University of Southern California, receiving a bachelor of science degree in business administration/marketing in 1985 and a juris doctorate in 1990. Throughout his career, Rob has remained involved with his alma mater. In 1998, he was appointed to the USC Gould School of Law Board of Councilors, where he is currently serving as the board chair.

Throughout his endeavors, Rob continues to be involved in Santa Barbara charities. He has served on the Board of Trustees of The Towbes Foundation since 1996, the Board of Trustees of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History since 2012, and has been a member of the Board of Trustees for the Santa Barbara Foundation since 2010. He has also served as the chair of the Santa Barbara Foundation’s Community Investments Committee as well as a member of the foundation's Executive Committee. Rob has previously served on the Board of Directors of Camerata Pacifica, the Foundation for Santa Barbara City College, the Santa Barbara Boys & Girls Club, and on the Development Committee of the Santa Barbara Zoo.

Rob resides in Santa Barbara with his wife Meghan and their three children Natalie, Amanda, and Koby.
