Give Now

At the heart of our county is community and, after almost two years with the Santa Barbara Foundation, my knowledge of our community has grown significantly. On my first day at the foundation, I took photos of the press junket for the Food Action Plan that was fostered by the LEAF Initiative. This plan addressed challenges to our county’s health, environment and community. This is when I learned, in depth, about the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County and all the great work that they do to provide healthy access to food. This connection stuck with me and, this November, with the help of my colleagues in the Next Generation of the Santa Barbara Foundation, I organized a food drive to donate to the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County to give back to our community. Even today, with many in our community being affected by the Thomas Fire, the Foodbank is at the forefront of providing access to healthy food at its Emergency Food Distribution Centers.

All in all, connection is what the Santa Barbara Foundation is all about. This organization, which I consider a knowledge bank, has so much information about our county and the communities that encompass it. If you are interested in a sector or field, we will do our best to connect you with your interest and how you may give back to your community. If there is a natural disaster, we connect you to the resources that you need. The foundation’s ability to help you connect to your community, like it has for me in so many ways, is why I am asking you to join the Santa Barbara Foundation this holiday season and give to the communities you care about.
