Mary K. and Edith Pillsbury Creative Writing and the Robert Emmons Poetry Prize.
Creative Writing Scholarships are given annually to local high school and college students demonstrating unusual aptitude or potential in the field of writing. Approximately $13,000 is awarded each year.
Applicants must:
demonstrate unusual aptitude in creative writing
be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card)
have attended at least four of the six secondary grade years at a Santa Barbara County school, and graduate or receive a GED from a Santa Barbara County high school
be planning to attend full-time as an undergraduate or medical/graduate student at an approved school
Application deadline: October 9, 2008 by 5 p.m. (Postmark NOT accepted.) Applications will be available on this webpage in August. Please note: A letter of recommendation is no longer required.
