
The Community Enhancement, Recreation and Environment fields of interest include land acquisition and protection organizations, animal welfare agencies, and groups that enhance neighborhoods and citizen participation. Beginning in 2009, this cycle will also include recreation organizations, including community centers and park friends groups.
Agencies in this category have missions to:
- encourage citizen participation in the strengthening of local communities and neighborhoods
- promote projects and practices that preserve and restore the quality of our natural environment
- provide opportunities for recreation leisure or sporting activities
