A gift directly to the Santa Barbara Foundation is always the most flexible type of gift we can receive. These unrestricted gifts allow us to meet the critical needs of our community that may arise unexpectedly. However, there are times when a donor may wish to create a specific fund and be involved in the distribution of those funds to charity. That is when the following funds can play a critical role in the philanthropic process.
Many of our funds are endowed, which means they are invested in perpetuity and a percentage is distributed to charity each year. Other funds allow all monies to be distributed to charity frequently. It depends on the goal of your philanthropy which fund would suit your needs.
