General Loans  


The Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara (SFSB) accepts applications and collects loan payments on behalf of the Santa Barbara Foundation’s Student Aid programs. Contact the SFSB to request applications for loans, scholarships, and awards.

Undergraduate Loan Program
Loans are available for up to four years of undergraduate studies. Loans are interest-free and repayment begins six months after the student graduates or otherwise leaves school. When 50 percent of the undergraduate loan has been repaid in a timely manner, the loan is considered paid in full.  

Schwalenberg Medical School Loan Program
Loans are awarded to students for up to 14 quarters of medical school, and can be received in addition to an undergraduate loan. Loans are interest-free and repayment begins 18 months after the student receives an MD degree or otherwise leaves school. For students who enter family practice or internal medicine, the medical school loan is considered paid in full when 50 percent of the loan has been repaid in a timely manner.

Heimlich Fund Loan
No-interest loans are available for students pursuing a degree in business economics, constitutional studies, MBA, military service, or criminal justice. Students at the following institutions receive first priority: Chapman College, Citadel, Pepperdine University, Virginia Military Institute, and Westmont College.

Siefe Family Loan
No-interest loans for Lompoc Valley undergraduates or graduate students pursuing studies in the sciences or health and medicine, including fields such as engineering, physics, biology, chemistry, dentistry, nursing, veterinary medicine or earth science. A minimum G.P.A. of 3.5 is required, but financial need is not.
