The Santa Barbara Foundation believes we can achieve a more sustainable and civically engaged community through leadership capacity building. Through opportunities at the individual, organizational and community level, we strengthen existing leadership while advancing the next generation of leaders in Santa Barbara County. The foundation is pleased to support the following leadership programs this year and encourages individuals from our entire county to become involved.
The Fund for Santa Barbara
The Fund for Santa Barbara’s Technical Assistance Program supports community-based organizations with skill-building opportunities, informational resources and free tailored consulting services. Other technical skills include grant writing, strategic planning, board development, policies and procedures, community organizing strategies, media strategies, advocacy and lobbying, program development, event planning, 501(c)(3) incorporation and more.
Leading From Within
The Emerging Leaders Program is designed to help leaders from Santa Barbara County’s nonprofit organizations increase their impact in their organization and the sector at large. This 10-month program combines a professionally relevant curriculum with support in making deep connections with peers, mentors and community leaders.
Since 1999, the Katherine Harvey Fellows program has invested in the development of 95 talented and motivated young community leaders in Santa Barbara County. This 18-month leadership development program focuses on four primary components: education, values exploration, grant making, mentoring and relationship-building.
Courage to Lead is a year-long leadership development program for nonprofit executive leaders that focuses on individual personal and professional growth through renewal, leadership and peer community. The program consists of five quarterly two-day retreats and monthly small group Leader Circles.
