What's SBF's connection to KDB?

KDB 93.7 FM is one of only a handful of self-supporting classical music stations in the U.S. There are currently 13,000 radio stations nationwide but fewer than 30 communities have their own self-supporting, full-time fine arts station. KDB has more than 30,000 listeners a week. The classical format housed at 93.7 FM is available from Point Conception to as far south as Thousand Oaks. The station is known for its support of the arts and is considered the principal promotional outreach for many of the area's arts organizations.

The future of KDB was clouded in 2002 until former trustees of the Foundation came forward to save the station from being sold and its format changed. After initial efforts to find a new owner failed, the group decided to donate the station to the Foundation. Due to their close affiliation over the years, they appreciated the Foundation's role as a neutral nonprofit in the community. The Foundation became the official owner of the station on Thursday, November 6, 2003.
