Meet MOXI: The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation

Have you made it down to lower State Street recently and wondered what that big building with the striking lookout tower across the street from the train station is? It’s MOXI — The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation — a science museum for curious minds of all ages that’s looking forward to opening its doors around the end of the year.

The 25,000 square foot, Barry Berkus-designed building is expected to be complete this summer. Installation of MOXI’s 70+ hands-on exhibits will begin in the fall. Once open, the museum will be a family-friendly destination dedicated to igniting learning through interactive experiences in science and creativity. The museum’s three floors (including the rooftop Sky Garden) will be filled with fun and engaging exhibits focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

The Santa Barbara Foundation, through the Highland Foundation, has made a significant gift to MOXI’s Capital Campaign and is pleased to be supporting this vibrant new destination that will serve families from throughout Santa Barbara County. The museum expects to welcome more than 100,000 visitors annually, helping to revitalize lower State Street and bring tourists up from Stearns Wharf. MOXI will also be an invaluable resource for area educators and aims to inspire our country’s next great thinkers, inventors and innovators.

A limited number of naming and sponsorship opportunities remain. For more information, please contact Kate MacNaughton at 805-708-2282 or kate.macnaughton@moxi.org.
