Donor Spotlight: Local Artist Jane Gottlieb

Renowned local artist and Santa Barbara foundation donor, Jane Gottlieb celebrated the opening of Dreamscapes, a special installation at the Charles E. Young Research Library Research Commons at UCLA on Wednesday, June 14.

The collection, which will hang in the library for ten years, is a series of her favorite photographs taken over a lifetime and painted, collaged, and enhanced with Photoshop. These 15 pieces are among the largest she has produced—40”x60”—and are printed on aluminum, which allows the observer to experience an unobstructed view of the bold colors of the work.

Ms. Gottlieb’s joyful, energetic images have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the world and featured in countless books and articles. Her art speaks to a wonderful world in which the aesthetic joy of color is always with us.

This exhibition is Gottlieb’s fourth installation at UCLA, with a fifth planned for 2017. Her art is also displayed at the Gevirtz School of Education at UCSB and at the Santa Barbara Foundation.
