Dancing with the Lompoc Stars

The Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau hosted their first ever “Dancing with the Stars” event on March 4th to benefit local charities. Five local celebrities were paired up with three local dance studios that offered professional instruction to the dancers leading up to the event. Each dancer selected a nonprofit that would benefit from their participation.

The dancers included: Lompoc City Councilwoman Jenelle Osborne paired with Katrina Ryker of Garcia Dance Studio, Lompoc Civic Theatre Business Manager Charles Sommer paired with Tammy Marquez of Garcia Dance Studio, local business owner Scott Reardon paired with Jesslyn Brundy and Jamie Anderson of Lompoc School of Dance, community member Masson Blow paired with Marco Herrera of The Alley Project and Education Director for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians and Santa Barbara Foundation Trustee Dr. Niki Sandoval paired with Marco Herrera of The Alley Project.

After a heated competition Dr. Niki Sandoval was named the overall winner. Sandoval raised $2,396, the most money of all the contestants, for her chosen nonprofit Companion Animal Placement Assistance. In total, the event raised over $3,000 for Coast Valley Treatment Center, Valley Haven Adult Day Program, and Lompoc Civic Theatre.

“We are thrilled that we had the support of the Santa Barbara Foundation, the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians and Sunset Auto Center with their sponsorship of the event, along with the numerous donors who helped make this event a success.” Said Chelsea Cochran, Communications & Program Director of Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau. “We have already had prospective dancers reach out to us to express their desire to get involved and with a few changes based on the feedback we received, I think you can count on a bigger, better Dance Lompoc event next year!”
